Restructuring and extension of the distribution centre of the company soft-carrier
Soft-carrier is a special distributor for IT products and office supplies. More than 42,000 articles from the paper clip to computer accessories are administered, packed and dispatched. The largest portion of the orders is received online and is delivered within 24 hours. This requires a smooth materials flow and high availability.
When the order was received by Unitechnik the store was operated as a pure supply store. It offered space for 2,600 pallets and 15,000 bins and was equipped with goods reception and dispatch as well as with the corresponding conveyor technology. The actual commissioning was carried out at a different site of the company. It took place to a large extent manually.
The object of the assignment to Unitechnik was the tripling of the storage capacity to 47,000 bins, the exchange of all existing controls in the current operations as well as the development of a modern computer supported distribution centre.
